Package Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival 

Arrive at Asmara International airport and transfer to Hotel. Overnight in Asmara 

Day 02: Asmara city tour

Asmara, the capital of Eritrea is the largest City. Laying at an altitude of 2400 meters above sea level the City has a year round pleasant climate at a range of 18-25 Celsius. Even during the summer time Asmara has an enjoyable climate. The modern city of Asmara was literally created by the Italians between the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th Century. The city’s elegant streets and the adjoining promenade are comfortable for day or night walking. The city now accommodates more than 400 art Deco buildings officially recognized by UNESCO. The city maintains its cleanliness, which is commended by many visitors. One of the attractive features of Asmara, in particular and the country in general is that it is the safest place to enjoy.  One would feel as if one is in Rome when touring Asmara. Many Italians use to call it “Asmara Bella” .meaning “Asmara the beautiful”.Overnight in Asmara

Day 03: City tour - Keren

Visitors will enjoy the Monday camel and other live stock market. Visitors would also visit the Italian and Common Wealth war cemeteries. Keren is well known for the fiercest battles that went on between the Common wealth and the Italian forces in 1941. The fall of Keren in the hands of the Common Wealth advancing army signaled the end of an era of the Italian occupation in Eritrea. Visitors will also visit the famous Mariam Dearit temple curved out from a Baobab tree.Keren is also well known for the citrus fruits like Guava, Orange, Papaya and mango trees that it produces .Overnight in Keren.

Day 04: VISIT HALIB MENTEL 

Keren and its environs are inhabited by Tigre and Billen Tribes. Mostly they live in huts. One would enjoy their traditional dance and their unparalleled hospitality. The tribes are mostly farmers and pastoralists. The Italians have so many pictures of the beautiful ladies of the Billen during the end of the 19th and early 20th century. There are still photos on sale to this day Overnight in Keren.


DAY 05: VISIT ELABERET 

Visitors will drive to 28 kilometers towards Asmara and turn to the east for a 15 kilometers drive towards the famous shrine of St.Mary church of Debresina where there is rock hewn church. The purpose however is to observe the cultural living way of lthe Tigre and Anseba People. There are basic similarities between the Tigre and Billentribes . In the afternoon the visitors will return to Keren. Meanwhile visitors will have the opportunity to see the famous agricultural concession owned by the legendary Italian farmer “Denadai” that once was a hub of exportable citrus fruits to the middle east. There were also dairy farming owned by the same farmer. The Denadai farm was famous for it long lasting bottled Milk.  Overnight in Keren

Day 06: KEREN-ASMARA 

Following a memorable stay in Keren the returning back to Asmara will require for the visitors to start driving at the Early morning hours. The gradual ascending toward the highlands will make one feel as if one is being airlifted. The hair pin turning of the curved out of the mountains is such spectacular scenery. In about 2-3 hours drive visitors will reach Asmara (Overnight in Asmara)

Day 07  Asmara-  Massawaalong the Green Belt

Driving to Massawa through the green belt would take the route primarily towards the Keren road. Then turning towards the east the journey would gradually descend through the much admired filfil- solomuna road, usually called the Green belt. The road initially built by the Italians as a weather road has been turned into a fine tarmac by the Government of Eritrea Visitors  may feel as if they are driving above the clouds as they could apparently watch  the clouds down the hill.  Bird watching is glamorous in FilfilSolomuna Visitors can have a coffee break at Sabur or Medhanit . 

Further driving towards the east the descending will continue. Visitors could have a stop-over at the Mai Wu’uii (the famous hot spring) found some 40 kilometers from Massawa. Continuing the journey visitors will witness the desert plains before reaching the port City of Massawa. 
At the end of the 1960’s an Italian writer Oscar Rampone described Massawa in his introductory poem His profound expression is vivid to this day. He said “ 
“Massawa Massawa white and Blue I never get tired whenever I write of you”. 

Massawa enjoys a combination of Turkish and Italian Architects, an apparent indication of the Ottoman and Italian colonial history. 
There is, among others,  an old Turkish Palace and the Modern Port built by the Titians at the turn of the 20th Century. A more than one thousand years mosque is still standing to this day. A great attraction to many visitors 

The famous Gurgusum beach is one of the finest beaches in the world. Visitors can enjoy swimming 
Massawa is relatively cool during October to March. However during April to September it will be hot and humid. Visitors can adjust their time table accordingly .Overnight in Massawa


Day 08: VISIT THERASHAIDA COMMUNITY   

In the environs of Massawa visitiors will be able to meet theRashaida Community.The Rashaidas are Nomads. They travel along the costs of Massawa to the North until Sudan. 
TheRashaidasearn their living mainly by trade. These tribes are believed to have crossed to Eritrea from Yemen and Saudi Arabia some four centuries ago. They still maintain their Arab ancestry. 
Further to the South of Massawa along the Foro and the Buri Peninsula visitors will have the opportunity to meet the Tigre tribes, similar to the Keren Tribes, and further north the Afar Tribes. Overnight in Massawa

Day 09: Massawa - Nefasit - Asmara 

Driving back at an early morning from Massawa to Asmara is an enjoyable ascending from Zero  sea levels to a gradual climbing to Gahtelai, Dongolo Basso, Dongollo Alto , Ghindae and Nefasit . Nefasit is overshadowed by the famous DebrebizenMonastery  at an altitude of 2450 meters above. A separate expedition can be arranged for climbing , but only for men who are physically fit. Then finally the journey will take the visitors to  Asmara . overnight in Asmara

Day 10: Asmara- Dekemhare – AdiKeyih

Traveling 40 kilometers from Asmara towards the south east en route to the famous architectural sites in Kohaito will have the visitors acquaint themselves with the Tigrinya community who are part of the large community found the highlands of the country at a 360 degree radius of about 40-50 kilometers from Asmara.  (overnight in  AdiKeyih)

Day 11 Adikeyih- Dekemhare - Asmara 
Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the Saho Community predominantly Muslims and whose language is akin to that of the Afar Community. Their dance is also similar to that of the Afar. .

Day 12 Asmara-Adiquala-Asmara 

An 80 kilometers drive from Asmara to Adiquala  along the south western part from Asmara will take the visitors to the fertile area inhabited entirely by the Tigrinya Community . They are very well known by their spectacular dance and also by their excellent production of the Local beer “Suwa” .
Later in the evening the visitors will be transferred to the airport for their bon voyage back home
