Zagir is a small village to the North East of Asmara on the way to Filfil (the Green Belt). The village has a population of about 10,000 people. It is well known for its dual rainy season, which encompasses the highlands and the Eastern lowlands.
The village is also known as a seat of the Eritrean People’s Liberation Front. There is a traditional big hall that was used for indoctrinating the people for their pragmatic administration and the fight for independence.
