The Italian Mausoleum in Adi-Quala
Adi Quala lies at a distance of 92 kilometers from Asmara to the southeast. The tomb was built in the 1940s in commemoration of the Italian soldiers who fell in the humiliating defeat at the hands of King Menelik’s army of Ethiopia in Adowa in 1896.
The war is recorded as a great African victory of the 19th Century.
